Underwater Love Story by Ultrasound

It's getting colder
I am chilled to the bone
It's getting later
It's time we went home
There's no way I can stay

We'll sleep together in this watery grave
And if you'll let me I'll drown we'll be found
and be saved
Let's be brave

She kissed his visor
Made a sign with her eyes
It's now I love you
You know if I die we'll get down
To the sound
She shines so brightly as she's climbing the stairs
It takes her body, her thoughts and her cares
And she's drowned - underground

Her fingers stretch and flex
She's gone.
She stares right through you.
Come on, fight and be strong.

Swim hard and fast, make me proud of you
As I sleep be sure I'll dream of you
Swim hard and fast, make me sure of you
As I sleep you know I'll pray for you

“Angel, spit it out!” Cordy yells, even though she knows exactly what he wants to say. She just needs to hear it from his lips, those words she'd both feared and wanted, for so long. She has been running from these feelings, but she couldn’t run anymore. She realized her feelings earlier after her encounter with Groo, causing him to leave for Vegas with Lorne. Let’s just leave it at that. Anyway, Cordy knew these feelings were there at a subconscious level – she was just afraid to admit them.

“"I'm in LOVE with you, OKAY??!” blurts Angel, finally caving in.

“Well why didn’t you just say so in the first place? I mean, you would’ve saved us from so much trouble.” Cordy snaps back, sensing her dormant feelings bubbling up to the surface even stronger.

“It’s just, I…” Angel starts to answer Cordy, but he is cut off by a kiss. An intense, passionate kiss. A kiss revealing everything left behind closed doors. A kiss not caused by being possessed by spirits of lovers. A kiss free of dealing with attempted vision transfers or alternate universes. A kiss which does not end with…

“Ahem.”

…Skip standing there, waiting for Cordy.

----

"It's time." Skip says.

"Time?! Time for what?" Cordy questions, obviously becoming annoyed with Skip’s vagueness.

"To go." Skip states, still with the vagueness.

“Go where?” Cordy becomes even more annoyed with Skip’s non-answers, and it is starting to show.

“Not here.” Skip responds.

Cordy looks around, realizing everything is at a stand-still. Nothing is moving on Santa Monica Pier; all is frozen in time. She stares at Angel’s beautiful face, full of love. Or possibly confusion, she is not quite sure.

“Seriously, I want to know what is going on here?” Cordy demands.

“You are needed elsewhere, the Powers That Be have huge plans for you.” Skip answers back casually.

“Needed elsewhere?! How could I be needed elsewhere? Connor is back and Angel just told me that he loves me! I am totally needed here, not wherever this elsewhere may be!” Cordy fumes back at Skip.

“Nope, you are needed elsewhere. You see, it is like in the Matrix when Neo realizes the goal he plays in saving the world. You have a higher calling, you have to follow it.” Skip retorts.

“What is with you and the Matrix? Can’t you think of anything else? You always talk about the Matrix.” snaps Cordy.

"No." Skip continues, "Anyway, whoops! Look at the time. Oh, you don't have a watch… Well, see this here?" Skip points one long index finger to his wrist. There's nothing there.

"Uh, no?"

"Well, that means we're outta time. Come on, Cordelia."

All of sudden, Cordelia finds herself in a white robe, floating towards the sky. She looks down to see the world disappearing. What the hell is going on? She is ascending? Can this be any more stupid, she wonders.

“Yep, it can.” Cordy looks around to find herself being surrounded by white, floating clouds. “Seriously, what is with all these somewhat angelic qualities I’ve acquired since I’ve been demonized? I mean, my power is some sort of indefinable, white light thing. You’d think I’ve become a saint or something.”

“That is not your power, it is the Powers that Be going through you.” Skip responds. “Since I’ve become your guide, I was in charge of protecting you until you were needed by us. I got a kick out of the whole ‘higher level’ thing, so your protection manifested in a heavenly form. Well, I thought it was funny.”

“And people call Angel the dork.” Counteracts Cordy as she rolls her eyes.

Cordy observes her surroundings, and it hits her - she is not in Los Angeles anymore. She is not home, where she belongs – with Angel! She needs to go back as soon as possible. Hopefully she can, after she figures out why she is here in the first place, and soon.

-----

He has waited so long for this moment, even though he believed it would never really happen. The most beautiful woman he has ever seen, his best friend, his anchor to humanity returns what he feels for her. Angel slowly opens his eyes, expecting to see warm, inviting hazel one's staring lovingly back at him. He expects to feel the lingering sweetness of her lips, THE lips he'd been waiting so long to taste. But there is no one there.

She seems to have disappeared.

“Cordy, where’d you go?” Angel shouts. Frantically, he begins to search all for her. Where could she go? One second he was kissing her, the next second she is gone. Vanished without a trace. This cannot happen now, not after he found out she feels the same way he feels about her.

Angel searches all over the pier, knocking people over that somehow manage to get in his way. He finally has her in the way he has wanted her for so long, nothing is going to get in the way of this moment. Nothing.

-----

After hours of exhausted searching, Angel sits near the edge of the ocean to rest for a second. He has not given up, but he is drained emotionally for the time being. He needs to think for a moment, collect his thoughts. The happiness Angel felt earlier is slowly being replaced by despair, leaving Angel in a strange condition.

Suddenly he sees Connor approaching him. Angel is so glad he can finally begin to form a relationship with his son, the son wrongfully taken away from him as a baby. Which just happened to be a week ago, even though it feels like ages.

“Hey Connor, what’ve you been up to? I’ve been searching for Cordy, have you seen her…” Angel starts a conversation with Connor but is cut off by a startling look in Connor’s eyes. The rage burning within Connor reveals itself to Angel, not hiding a single feeling of anger directed towards him.

“You’ve killed him!” Connor screams, his fury gaining momentum with every move he makes towards Angel. “I didn’t believe it at first, even if I saw it with my own eyes. But Justine told me! You murdered him, the only father I’ve really known, Angelus.”

The way Connor pronounced ‘Angelus’ was filled with so much hatred, so much venom, Angel couldn’t help but flinch.

“Connor, I don’t know what you are talking about!” Still in a state of weakness, Angel stumbles back – cowering from the wrath of Connor.

“Holtz.” With one word, Connor grabs Angel and drags him across the beach pulling him into a boat. Angel still does not have the heart in him to fight back, after all, this is his son. Connor’s stronger than almost anything he has encountered, so it is not easy to restrain from fighting Connor if he did not want to get hurt. Angel finally punches back, knocking Connor on his ass. This doesn’t phase Connor though, he charges Angel throwing a blow which causes Angel to fall back into some sort of encasing.

Angel finds himself being shoved into a metal box. “Connor, what are you doing?”

“You killed my father!” Connor cries out, while continuing to violently cram Angel into the tight space.

“You are making a mistake! I did not kill Holtz!” Angel screams back! Fear begins to creep up. He begins to fight with all his strength, he doesn’t like closed spaces. However, it is too late. The lid is shut and Angel is now locked in.

“You are going to pay for this!” Connor shouts.

-----

Cordy paces across the floor, through clouds. Yep, clouds. Could it get anymore clichéd?

“Hey, is this heaven?” she calls out to Skip.

“No, just some waiting place till it is the right time for you to be taken to your new duties.”

“So I was brought to ‘elsewhere’ because I was needed, but now is not the right time? Does that make sense to you at all?” Cordy’s voice began to grow more impatient.

“I mean, you brought me…” All of a sudden Cordy is cut off, she is in a box – with Angel. Angel screams for Connor not to drop him into the ocean in between howls for Cordy to come back to him.

“I’m here Angel, don’t be upset. I am here for you.” Cordy uses a soft voice, trying to sooth an Angel in apparent distress.

“Cordy! Where are you?” It is now clear that Angel doesn’t realize Cordy is there, causing Cordy’s stomach to twist into knots. What is happening?

All of a sudden Cordy is face down on the floor of clouds. Was it just a vision? It felt so real, is this what they meant when they said she would experience pain greater than the headaches? She could believe this, since she felt a pain so unbearable.

“Skip! I had a vision of Angel! We have to go save him!” Cordy could not hide the urgency in her voice.

“That was not a vision, Cordelia. It is your new power, kind of. When a warrior has such a strong connection with his seer, he can send his own messages. Sort of interfere with the power lines to your brains when he needs you.”

“Well then he needs me! He is obviously in pain, I have to go to him!”

“Afraid not, you are needed here!”

“I said I would never leave him, that I would always be with him! I can’t break my promise now when he needs me more than ever. I could feel the fear inside him.” Cordy’s pain slowly becomes anger, until she breaks down in tears.

“I cannot tell you exactly why we cannot interfere with these events, but to prove the Powers That Be aren’t complete bastards we are going to give you a gift. His soul is permanent now, but you only have an hour with him. Your happy ending comes later.”

-----

Cordy looks up, noticing she is in the box again. This time it is real, she is with him.

“Angel.” She whispers softly.

“You’re here.” He replies back to her.

“Sshhh,” she comforts him, “We don’t have much time now, but I am here for you. You will be out of here soon enough.”

She begins to kiss him softly, he responds with the same gentleness until he can no longer control his need for her. The kiss becomes more intense, full of passion and need underlying their complete love. No matter what happens, they understand their love will never die.

The thought of actually getting it on with Angel starts to make Cordy’s body roll. Before he even touches her, the butterflies play with her insides – tickling her with anticipation. The blood swimming through her body warms her up, causing her to heat up the forsaken box - enveloping Angel with her hot comfort so he no longer trembles in fear. Her body begins to remember the sensations of being fucked, but it knows it will not compare to anything Angel can give it. Anticipating the kisses, the hard thrusts, the lustful shouting, Cordy lets out a loud moan.

Angel takes the noise as a cue to move on, explore every inch of her beautiful body. He slowly peels away the wet garb, revealing nothing underneath. As the sea water slowly filters in the box, it swishes around making their bodies stickier. The smell of salt and sex begins to overwhelm them, making them lose any sense of reality outside of the box. Their prison becomes a haven, an escape from the outside world.

He slowly licks down her body starting from her neck down to the small of her stomach, trying to maneuver as best as he can inside such a small space. She tastes of salt and lilacs. Her beautiful essence not completely drowned in the harshness of the truth outside of the box.

He begins to massages her clit slowly, making her moan louder. His mere touch sets her mental anticipation reeling into complete physical desire. She squirms in delight as he rubs her clit in harder and faster motion, causing her to achieve her first orgasm. No worries though, there are more where that came from.

She slowly begins to slide down his body, kissing down his chest till she traces his happy trail. She begins to remove his clothing, revealing his gorgeous physique. She starts getting impatient though, and time is running out. She goes straight for what she wants, delighted to already find it hard as a rock – ready and waiting for her. She slowly climbs up, straddling him carefully. After all, she is in a tight space – and he will be in a tighter space soon. She lowers herself gently onto his hardness, causing both of them to simultaneously moan from the moment. She slowly rides him, causing herself to cry out in pleasure while his mouth begins to part slightly from the ecstasy he begins to feel. She picks up her speed, her fervor causing her to hit her head repeatedly on the metal lid, but she does not care. It has been so long since she has felt this good and she wants to feel the pounding everywhere, letting her know it is real. She hopes she has a bump on the back of her head, so she can remember having sex with Angel. Sex with Angel isn’t just sex, it is worthwhile sex. The sex that is hard to come by.

Angel begins to cry louder as Cordy grinds harder into his lap, he is near coming and he can tell she is too from her muscle spasms. She groans louder, riding away at Angel till her legs are numb. She squeals in delight as he continues to meet her motions with hard thrusting. Their bodies become moister from the surrounding water, slowly filling up the box with each passing moment. It does not matter though, at this point they are so wet from body sweat and seawater, the smell of salt becomes overwhelming.

They continue to listen to each other’s bodies cry out all their needs, so in sync like everything else about them. At the same time, they come – screaming for each other with such determination never heard of before. They are now satisfied, laying in a pool of sweat and salt water.

Cordy kisses Angel one more time before she leaves, her time is up.

“Angel,” Cordy coos, “I am going now, but I just want you to know we will have our happy ending. Just stay strong and I will get you out. I will always be there for you, remember – I promised.”

With that, Angel rolls over to find an empty space. Alone in a box, waiting for his happy ending.
